Пауланеровите монаси го служеле Салватор како замена за храна за време на Постот. Меѓу нив најпознатиот пивар Отецот Барнабас, кој бил управител на Пауланер манастирската пивараод почеток на 1773 година. Тој оригинален рецепт е денес скоро ист како и за време на Отец Барнабас. Со обврска да го заштити оригиналниот рецепт, Пауланер имаше трговски жиг „Salvator“ патентиран 1896 година.
